I never tire of listening to artists speak passionately about their art. Apparently neither did over 240 attendees who braved a warm Merida afternoon to visit 23 amazing artists in their studios on the 2015 Merida Artist Studio Tour.
The one day, self-guided Artist Studio Tour was launched three years ago with a dozen artists, and has grown to become a highly anticipated event for the Merida English Library, the artists, resident Yucatecans, expats living in Merida and tourists from around the world. From metal, stone, paper and wood sculptors to master printmakers and painters, the anticipation for the event was as high as the calibre of the work. People hired cabs, carpooled, walked, and biked their way around Centro Merida—some even came from as far away as Cancun to take in the tour!
I didn’t get to all my artist studios that day, so this is just a sampling. If you’re planning a trip to Merida in February 2016, put the Artist Studio Tour on your list of things to do! And if you’re an artist living and working in Merida and are interested in being a part of the tour, reach out to me and I’ll be glad to meet with you. Enjoy the tour!
Hola Daughter
You did a sensitive and in depth set of interviews and followup for your “Artists’ Walk”.
Hope you are a little bit proud of the accomplishment, I am.
